The OnePlus 6 is now receiving the OTA update for the latest version of its system software, OxygenOS 5.1.9. The new update is available as an OTA for OnePlus users on the stock software, and roll-out will be gradual as always and will reach all users of the OnePlus 6 over the next few days. The update size is 342MB and notably also brings the OnePlus 6 onto the July Android security patch from Google.
Oxygen OS 5.1.9 should be making its way onto OnePlus 6 devices later today, and with it comes a notable update to the camera experience that promises to improve picture.
Generally speaking, the clarity of test samples from each device initially felt similar. However, cropping right in we could see minor improvements to fine detail. This appeared to be predominantly down to heavier-handed post-processing and more aggressive sharpening and edge detection, paired with improved dynamic range.
On the system front, there are a few big changes as well. Apart from the Android security patch update, issues with accidental touches that triggered gestures have been fixed, Wi-Fi stability has been optimized, and a Bluetooth stability issue for connections with car audio kits has also been fixed. Apart from this, general bug fixes and improvements are also present, as is usually the case.
